When you visit Barnes and Noble’s website, you can join their mailing list. The downside of joining it is that you typically get daily emails, which can be overwhelming and annoying. But the upside is that you get coupon codes that save you money on your purchases. These coupon codes – which you enter into your shopping cart while you’re checking out – can make a big difference in cost.
Special discounts
The email list will also notify you of special discounts. These typically come in one of several forms:
- Discounts on particular titles
- “For the price of” discounts. These are where you have a large selection of titles to choose from, and get three books for the price of two, or four for the price of three, or something like that. While Amazon has a similar offering on certain titles, sometimes this will make your particular purchase less expensive at Barnes and Noble.
Terms
Every discount has certain requirements. Some will simply take a certain amount of percentage off your purchase, no matter what you’ve purchased. Most exclude a small number of items from which the chain is not receiving a good deal from the manufacturer. Some will only work on a select number of items or titles, so be sure to check the terms and see what your final total is going to be before clicking the final button to check out.
